Aspen Colorado is in a pristine valley tucked in the White River National Forest. The Aspen ski area also known as Ajax Mountain rises up from the valley floor of downtown Aspen. Ajax Mountain is the more challenging of the four ski areas in the Aspen area.
The Aspen Mountain opens in late November, conditions permitting, and closes in mid April. This season Ajax (Aspen) Mountain closes on April 16th, 2006.
The Base elevation of Ajax (Aspen) Mountain is 7,945 ft with a vertical rise of 3,267 ft. and the Summit elevation height is 11,212 ft. There are 76 awesome ski runs for skiers of all ability levels to enjoy.
