Buttermilk Mountain Description
Most notably known as the Home of the ESPN Winter X Games, Buttermilk Mountain is a spectacular Ski Mountain located within the White River National Forest only 3 miles from Aspen and 6 miles from Snowmass Village. Buttermilk is also a premier mountain for beginners. While experts frolic in the terrain park, the rest of the family can cruise on the wide, rolling trails.

Buttermilk Mountain opens in early to mid december, Just in time to be perfect for holiday skiing. The closing date for this season is April 2nd, 2006, which gives you plenty of time t plan that late ski getaway. There will be lots of snow left, the Mountain averages 200 inches of snowfall per year.
There are only 2 restaurants at the Mountain to chhose from, Bumps & The Cliffhouse. They are both fabulous and relaxing environments that offer quality food and atmosphere. Four-Mountain Sports is a retail/rental shop located at the base of the Mountain.
Buttermilk has a vertical rise of 2,030 ft from the base of the Mountan which sits at 7,870 ft. With 44 trails and 435 acres of terrain available to enjoy and explore, you will never find yourself bored of the same runs and trails everyday.

There are plenty of attributes that make Buttermilk a favorite ski destination. It is the Home of the Winter X Games, and has the Crazy T’rain Snow Park and X Games superpipe. Beginner terrain makes Buttermilk an excellent learning mountain for new skiers and snowboarders. The Long, wide groomers at West Buttermilk and steeper rolling runs at Tiehack are Buttermilks best kept secret.
New to Buttermilk is the separate beginner terrain park (S3) on Larkspur & it is the host of the Aspen/Snowmass Open slopestyle and superpipe competition.
