Compete for bragging rights and have fun as you and a teammate ski/snowboard ALL of Highlands' bowls in one day!
The 2nd annual Highlands Bowling Party is scheduled for March 25, 2006. This event is designed to be a fun and a semi-competitive way to experience the best that Highlands has to offer by skiing/snowboarding its famed bowls in one day. The Highlands Bowling Party is a competition of planning and strategy where a little local knowledge might just be the key. Teams navigate the 700+ acres of terrain in an allotted time period with check points at the top and bottom of each bowl. At the bottom check point each participant will blindly reach into a bag and pull out a "pin” number that will be their score for that frame/bowl. Only teams returning their cards in the given period will be eligible to win amazing prizes. Held on one of the busiest weekends of the season at Aspen Highlands, this fun theme allows for friendly competition and makes for a festive après celebration.
Where: All the bowls at Aspen Highlands including: Highland Bowl, Thunder Bowl/Powder Bowl, Olympic Bowl, Jerome Bowl, Kessler's Bowl and No Name.
Basic Idea: Teams of two leave from the base of Highlands at slightly staggered times, choosing a course of action and setting off for their first bowl with an official bowling score card in hand. Check points will be placed at the top of each bowl where teams will receive a stamp before skiing/snowboarding to the bottom. At the bottom check point each team member will blindly reach into a bag and pull out a score that will be their score for that frame/bowl. Teams cannot move on to the next bowl until both team members are together and have the stamp from the top and a score from the bottom of the current bowl. After each bowl has been skied/ snowboarded and both team members score cards are complete (6 stamps and 6 scores on each) the team will return to the finish area to turn in their cards. Only teams returning their cards in the allotted 4 hour time frame (11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) will be eligible to win. When each team members score has been totaled a combined score for each team will decide the winner.
How to register: Registration is on the day of the event at the base of Aspen Highlands at the Aspen/Snowmass tent from 8:30 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. The cost is $10 per team.
